CALLING ALL SAILING ENGINEERS!
Abeam Crew is recruiting an experienced Temporary Chief Engineer to join a 45m modern private sailing yacht.
Please note: This position is strictly for engineers with proven experience on sailing yachts.
We are seeking a confident and capable solo engineer with strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience across PLC systems, electronics and AV/IT systems.
The yacht is nearing the end of an extensive world-cruising itinerary and is making its way back towards Europe. This is initially a temporary position, with the potential to become a permanent rotational role for the right candidate.

Position: Temporary Chief Engineer
Vessel: 45m Modern Private Sailing Yacht
Contract: 5 December 2026 – 17 February 2027
Location: Joining in the US Pacific and finishing in the Caribbean
Salary: To be discussed at interview stage

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience as an engineer on sailing yachts.
  • Y3 / Small Vessel (SV) Chief Engineer Certificate (under 3,000kW).
  • Confident and competent using IDEA Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
  • Strong knowledge of PLC systems, electronics and AV/IT.
  • Valid driving licence.
  • Valid B1/B2 visa (essential).
